Math: Shapes, Shapes, Shapes!
Today, the students of Room 108 explored 2D shapes. We
discussed:
-the number of sides
-the name of the shapes
-comparing shapes
-the number of sides
-the name of the shapes
-comparing shapes
-shape characteristics (E.g. circles can roll)
We then read a story that used shapes to create an
image of a monkey and a cat. We discussed how shapes can create anything.
In the follow up activity, the students of Room 108
used cut-out shapes to create their own images and would describe what they had
created.
Activity at home: Have your child explore their
surrounding by picking out shapes at home or in the community, ask them how
many sides it has.
